# Minecraft integration (alpha)

AICord's Minecraft mod, Minecord allows you to add your AICord characters to your minecraft world.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Since this is an alpha release, please expect some rough edges. Documentation is intentionally minimal as it is subject to change for new mod versions.
{% endhint %}

{% step %}

### Get your AICord API key

1. Go to the [settings page](https://aicordapp.com/dashboard/settings), then scroll down to API Key
2. If you don't have a key yet, generate one and finally copy it
3. Make sure your account has **AICord Advanced** plan
   {% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Download and set the mod up

Minecord is a Fabric mod, meaning you'll need to [install it](https://fabricmc.net/use/installer/) for the Minecraft version that our mod supports or higher.

If fabric is installed correctly, download the mod from <https://aicordapp.com/minecraft> and put it into the /mods folder in your game's folder.

{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Enable the integration and add a skin

Go to the dashboard, and add a minecraft skin URL to the Minecraft Integration. This will be what your character will use in the game. Don't forget to save!
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Make a configuration

Now we need to make the mod able to authenticate you to AICord's game servers. At the directory of your game, please create a **config** folder and a file inside it named **minecord.json**

As the content of this file, you'll need to add a simple configuration and at the apiKey field, add your AICord key you copied in the first step.

This is how your minecord.json file should look like:

```json
{
    "version": "1.0",
    "apiKey": "Your API key here, like sk-aicord-3HGNY8LK7XXXX",
}
```

{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Spawn your character

Open your modded Minecraft and get into a world. You should be able to see the `/character` commands.

Ensure that you have your integration set up correctly by running `/character list`, then `/character spawn [character_name]` to spawn it.

You can speak with the character using the in-game chat feature. Voice chat is coming soon!
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}
