Your first character

Are you new to AICord or forget how to create a cool AI character? Take a look at the steps to get all the information you need!

1. Method: Discord bot

Step 1 - Use the slash command

1. Head to your Discord server where you would like to create your AI character with AICord

2. Then in any text channel, type /character create and in the popping up menu, select the corresponding AICord command!

1. NSFW option

Select True if your character is considered not safe for work (NSFW) for people under the age of 18. Otherwise, select False

An NSFW character only works in a Discord channel that is marked as NSFW and is not accessible for underage people or people who may find it offensive. Everything generated with AICord is the sole responsibility of the user.

1. Channel restriction Premium-only

You can choose to make your AI character chat only in specific channel(s). If the NSFW setting is True, it may overwrite your choice if you choose a non-nsfw channel for an nsfw character!

If you are done, press Enter to run the command. A popup modal will show up, where you can set the prompts, name, personality, backstory and context of your character.

Step 2 - Add info in the input fields of the modal.

Now its time to get creative! The AI character will behave and chat based on your prompt after created!

   1. Character name - The name of your character, it will be @mentionable by this name

   2. Personality traits - The personality traits of your character, separated with commas like kind, friendly, supporting

   3. Context and additional prompt - Provide context on who the character exactly is. This is the place where you can set its own backstory and guides on how to reply. If your character is a well-known person, you don't have to provide so much information as the AI model is capable of searching the web. Otherwise, provide just enough information in your context so AICord's AI models get a sense on how to respond to various chats.

Be cautious, if you provide a really lenghty context, you may confuse the AI model or it may produce lengthy responses. We have seen some people adding whole Wikipedia articles to their character context and it does not help at all... 💀

If you are done, press the Submit button, and your character will be created. Woooohooo! 🎉

2. Method: AICord Dashboard

The experience of managing your characters from the dashboard is better than in Discord. It's because a Discord app can receive input from slash command options, buttons and modal text input only.

Step 1 - Login to the dashboard

1. Visit our dashboard at https://dashboard.aicordapp.com/ ! You can log in using your Discord account, so no additional registration needed!
2. After successfully logging in, you'll see a home page with a list of your servers where you have admin permissions!

While you can create and manage characters for every server that you have admin access to, it will only work if the AICord app is added to your server! Otherwise, you may get an error.

1. In order to manage characters, you need to choose a server where the characters should be installed. By clicking a server in the list, you'll be redirected to the dashboard for that one server. I'll demonstrate this by selecting the AICord support server.

1. Here you'll be able to see some stats about your server and a getting started guide, but more importantly, you'll get access to some new menus on the sidebar. For now, you need to choose the 🤖 (robot) icon, as we're going to manage AI characters!

1. If you've already created some characters, they will be listed on the dashboard where you can manage them. If not, you will only see the Create a new character button. To create an AI character, click it!

1. Input data:

• Character name - The name of your character, it will be @mentionable by this name

• Profile picture URL - A valid image URL like https://somesite.com/images/Lenin.png

• Personality traits - The personality traits of your character, separated with commas like kind, friendly, supporting

• Gender - The gender of your character. It is used to generate its voice. Can only be male or female, not attack helicopters!

• Context and additional prompt - Provide context on who the character exactly is. This is the place where you can set its own backstory and guides on how to reply. If your character is a well-known person, you don't have to provide so much information as the AI model is capable of searching the web. Otherwise, provide just enough information in your context so AICord's AI models get a sense on how to respond to various chats.

Select channels and NSFW

• Channels - Limit your character to specific channel(s) only.

Channel selection is a premium-only feature but some users might see it anyway. It does not work for free tier users and can make your characters unusable!

• NSFW - Select it if your character is considered not safe for work (NSFW) for people under the age of 18. Otherwise, unselect it!

If you've subscribed to AICord Premium, you can also chat with your characters without mentioning them:

• Reply to one of their messages directly

• Start a chat session with /character startsession

  Your characters will reply to every/some new message in the channel where you've started the session

• Start a voice session

  Similar to a chat session, but you can listen to your characters talking in the voice channel you are currently in. (We're working on a solution to talk to your characters directly in voice or at least talk with them using voice messages)
